MembershipMembresía
Why join a church at all?
Because the New Testament knows nothing of Christians without a congregation. Membership is how you say publicly: these are my people, this is my pastor, these are the brothers and sisters I am accountable to and responsible for. It is also how elders know who they will answer for.
What membership involves
You profess faith in Jesus Christ. You are baptized, if you have not been. You commit to attending worship, to supporting the church with your prayers, presence, gifts, and service, and to submitting to the government and discipline of the church.
What the church commits to you
Faithful preaching. Faithful administration of the sacraments. Prayer. Pastoral care in trouble. Correction when you need it, which is a mercy and not a threat. Elders who are answerable for your soul.
How it works
- Talk to the pastor or an elder.
- Attend [a membership class / a series of conversations] covering what we teach and what we expect.
- Meet with the elders.
- Take membership vows publicly before the congregation.
If you are here for a season rather than for life — many in Coronado are — talk to us anyway. There is a place for you.
